How is the Macrolane range different from the Restylane range? |
| |
The products of the Restylane and Macrolane ranges are NASHA gels with different consistencies reflecting their different intended uses. Restylane gels are designed for use in the face and for smaller, more superficial treatments. Macrolane is a thicker gel designed for use in the body where larger areas of volume restoration are desired. |

How does Macrolane compare to fat injection? |
| |
Injecting Macrolane is similar to fat injection in some regards; for example, the chance of rejection is minimal. However, treatment with Macrolane does not require any harvesting from other parts of the body – or overcorrection – thus saving time and trauma for the patient. Macrolane also allows for broader patient selection including those with a body mass index, or BMI, that does not allow for fat harvesting. |

How does it compare to synthetic permanent fillers on the market? |
| |
Since the body routinely produces and biodegrades hyaluronic acid on its own. NASHA gels will also be gradually biodegraded. Synthetic permanent fillers cannot be biodegraded by the body and can be difficult. |
|
|
How long is the effect meant to last? |
| |
Macrolane gels are not permanent implants. The NASHA gel injected during treatment will gradually be biodegraded by the patient’s body over time. While individuals naturally respond differently, effects are intended to last for at least a year. |

|
How much Macrolane gel can I inject? |
| |
The injection volume along with volume restoration factor, injection depth and specific surgical technique used will vary depending on the degree off correction to be achieved and injection site. Subcutaneous injection volumes of up to 240ml have been studied. There is no experience with injections of more than 240ml. |
